The Buffalo Bills' offseason has been a busy one both on and off the field. There have been several injuries including foot surgery for star wide receiver Sammy Watkins and shoulder surgery for rookie Shaq Lawson. Now the team is dealing with the arrest of one of its rookie on DWI charges.

The Arrest

The Washington County Sheriff's Department jail records show Jonathan Williams, 22, was booked on DWI charges Wednesday morning shortly before 3:30. Reports said a Fayetteville police report received a call about a possible intoxicated driver. According to the report, Williams had red, watery eyes and was slurring his speech when police pulled him over. The report goes on to say Williams displayed signs "consistent with intoxication" during a field sobriety test but refused a breathalyzer test.

Bills Reaction

The Buffalo Bills released a statement following the arrest of Williams:

“We are aware of the report and are in the process of gathering information. We have notified the league office of the report under the rules of the NFL Personal Conduct Policy.”

The Bills haven't said anything further as to what this could mean for Williams' future with the team and his appearance at training camp at the end of the month.

Williams Career

Jonathan Williams' Arkansas biography shows Williams had 2,321 yards with nine 100-yard games, good for 5.7 yards per rush average, and 16 touchdowns. He was a second-team all-conference performer in 2014 with 1,190 yards and 12 touchdowns rushing at Arkansas. Williams missed the 2015 regular season after having foot surgery. The Bills drafted the running back in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Williams is the only rookie running back on the Bills roster. In addition to Williams veterans LeSean McCoy, Karlos Williams, Michael Gillislee, Boom Herron, and James Wilder, Jr makeup the rest of the running back core for the Bills.
