On the day before Philadelphia Eagles training camp is scheduled to begin, the Eagles announced the signing of three players.

McLeod Bether-Thompson returns to the Eagles

One name is familiar to the Eagles. Quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson resigned with the Eagles. Bethel-Thompson was signed earlier this season but was released from the team in May. Bethel-Thompson will be a “camp arm,” meaning he will take some of the snaps and throws during training camp and lessen the amount of passes the other three quarterbacks will have to make. It will be an opportunity for him to get some more experience and showcase his talents to the other 31 teams in the league.

Former Raven is added to the team

Safety Nick Perry was a member of the Baltimore Ravens practice squad last season. He will enter an Eagles team that has suddenly become deeper at the safety position. His best chance to make a good impression will most likely be on special teams.

Local standout looks to make an impact

The second player the Eagles signed was linebacker Don Cherry. Like Perry, Cherry’s best chance of making the team will be on special teams. Cherry had a knack for finding the football while at Villanova University. Cherry had 331 tackles, 46 tackles for a loss, and 14 sacks during his college career. If he is able to perform well this preseason, he has a chance to make the Eagles practice squad.
