The Steelers won three of their last four games and, combined with the Raiders' victory over the Chargers in the last game of the regular season, were enough to qualify for the playoffs.

It is worth noting that since arriving in Pittsburgh, neither Ben Roethlisberger nor Mike Tomlin have had losing seasons and all have been at least .500.

Kansas City was the AFC West division champion, although in the penultimate week they lost to the Bengals, so the victory against the Broncos was in vain on the last day and was only enough to retain second place.

The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes have not lost in the last two years in the Playoffs (not counting Super Bowl) and will look to extend that status. The time Steelers defeated Chiefs in 2017 in the Wild Card round, Mahomes was still in college.

Although they met in the regular season and the Chiefs won, the Steelers' last victory in the Playoffs was four years ago when they visited this same stadium and won by a score of 18-16, where kicker Chris Boswell was the hero of the night with six field goals.

After getting injured earlier in the season, the good news for the Steelers is that Juju Smith-Schuster recovered from his injury, trained this week and was activated for this game, so he will be available to rejoin Big Ben's offense.

If there is someone who knows how to play this kind of games despite the few years he has been in the NFL is Patrick Mahomes, who has already reached two Super Bowl (one won and one lost), plus he has never lost at home in the Wild Card round.
