The Green Bay Packers will hit the road to head for San Francisco to prepare for their third of four preseason exhibition games. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:00 CDT on Friday night. Fans can watch the game on NFL Network.

This could be a very interesting preseason game. That is because both the Packers and San Francisco 49ers both have many questions still to be answered as the preseason winds down. This game could be a make or break for some of those players that are on the brink of making the roster.

49ers quarterback battle heats up

It was announced earlier this week that Colin Kaepernick is on track to play on Friday night; Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert are in a serious starting quarterback battle. As a result, both are hoping to make an impression on Friday night. Gabbert has not been super impressive this season, but getting a lot of snaps has helped him some. Kaepernick is hoping to play after recovering from having what was called arm soreness. Whoever impresses the most is likely to have the edge going into the final preseason game.

Aaron Rodgers likely to make preseason debut

Aaron Rodgers has yet to play in either of the first two games this preseason. Packer fans have been very anxious for Rodgers to take the field and just play even a couple series. How much action Rodgers will get on Friday, however, is still unkown. Rodgers just wants to get some action with some of the recievers and make sure that everything is good for the regular season. Rodgers did say, though, that it is likely that it is unlikely that he will play in the preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs.

That is not surprise news to most fans because most starting quarterbacks do not play in the final preseason game. They got to make sure they are rested and ready for the season opener. Rodgers is happy to have one of his favorite targets back this season as Jordy Nelson is back at practice. While he most likely will not play Friday or in the preseason finale, he should be ready for week one.

What to watch for in the game

So with all of that being said, what makes this game worth watching? There is many reasons to watch this game. The main thing to look for is the Packers wide receiver situation. The Packers have about seven or eight wide receivers that are talented. However, not all of those can make the regular season roster. Their time is running out to make their case of why they should be on the roster.

The last thing Packers fans are very interested in watching is undrafted quarterback Joe Callahan. Callahan has shown signs of a good young backup quarterback. Backup quarterback Brett Hundley has been dealing with multiple injuries. Hundley is unlikely to play Friday night. Therefore, on that note, Callahan can continue to make his case for the backup quarterback position on Friday night.
