The Chicago Blackhawks broke a two game losing streak, blanking the Montreal Canadiens 5-0 on Tuesday night. Hawks' Captain Jonathan Toews scored his 200th goal and goalie Corey Crawford had his first shutout of the season.

Toews opened up scoring in the first period at 11:19 by tipping in Duncan Keith’s shot past Montreal goalie Carey Price on a power-play.

Kris Versteeg, who scored two goals, scored his first in the second period. It was not until the third period, when the Hawks showed Montreal their offensive power, scoring three goals in the final 20 minutes.

Brad Richards scored his second of the season early in the third, Patrick Kane scored his fourth goal of the season and Versteeg scored the fifth and final goal of the game.

The night was special for Crawford, a native of Montreal suburb Chateauguay. Crawford won just his first game in Montreal, brining him to 3-0-2 against the Canadiens.

Despite the many highs the Hawks showed throughout the game, it came with some bad news as Patrick Sharp left the game after taking a hit from Canadiens’ defenseman Alexei Emelin at 6:55 in the third. Sharp was helped off the ice by teammate Niklas Hjalmarsson and did not return.

After the game, Hawks Coach Joel Quenneville said Sharp had a lower-body injury and would be out for a bit.
