Carey Price and the Montreal Canadiens were on a hot streak when the playoffs started to go up 3-0 on the Ottawa Senators, but since then they have fallen apart and lost 5 of their last 6 games, including the first 3 of the series against the Tampa Bay Lightning. There was no doubt that they needed to quickly turn things around in order to win the next four in a row, it was just a matter of how they were going to be able to do so.

They figured out that they needed to get some shots on Ben Bishop early and often in Game 4, and that was exactly what they did. Andrei Markov led the Canadiens with their first goal of the game just two minutes into the contest. This was the first shot that the Canadiens were actually able to get on goal, and Markov was assisted by P.K. Subban and Max Pacioretty. Pacioretty actually would get his goal a few minutes later after Markov got a penalty for cross checking. It was a shorthanded goal and Tom Gilbert got the assist on that goal. The Canadiens would end the period with a 2-0 advantage and they were just getting started.

David Desharnais would open up the scoring in the second period when it was just 5:08 into the period, and he was assisted by Dale Weise and Alex Galchenyuk. That was also the end of the game for Ben Bishop, as he was pulled less than halfway through the game and was replaced by Andrei Vasilevskiy. Then Vasilevskiy would be tested just a few minutes later after Ryan Callahan was called for a penalty and would have to be on top of his game despite not having played since March 31. The 36 days of rest were not kind to Vasilevskiy as he did give up a power play goal to Jeff Petry, and then 15 seconds later gave up a goal to Brendan Gallagher. By then the Canadiens were up 5-0 and it was going to be tough to get past the potential MVP in Carey Price to get the win at this point. But the Lightning did get on the board in the second period as Nikita Kucherov scored a power play goal about 3 minutes later. He was assisted by Ondrej Palat and Anton Stralman.

Palat would score early in the third period, just 17 seconds into the period to get them within 3 goals of the Canadiens, but the Canadiens would just get another insurance goal as Brandon Prust got his first of the postseason to get the game to the final score of 6-2 for Montreal.

The teams are slated to play again on Saturday, May 9, when they will be back at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec as the Canadiens will again be in another must win game.
