Every game of the Stanley Cup Finals has been a thrilling one goal game. This is why so many people have been saying that the NHL playoffs have been more exciting than the NBA playoffs this year.

Part of the excitement has been the thrilling play of Ben Bishop and Corey Crawford as they were expected to both give up more goals as many experts predicted going into the series that this would definitely be a high scoring series. Through three games though Crawford had only given up 8 goals to the Lightning, while Bishop has given up just 7 goals to the Blackhawks.

In Game 4 though, the defense would shine brightly again. Brent Seabrook, Jason Garrison, Jonathan Toews, Kimmo Timonen, and Alex Killorn would all get called for penalties in the opening frame as each team was set to do whatever it takes to keep the puck out of the goal. All 5 penalties would be killed though as the opening period was a quiet one on the scoreboard as they kept it all at 0-0. But Blackhawks fans had to be getting worried, as they only got 2 shots on goal during the opening period and had been consistently outshot by the Lightning during the series.

But one of the offending players from the first period would finally break the scoreless drought in the second period, when Toews scored the opening goal of the game with 13:20 left in the second period. He was assisted by both Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa. Unfortunately for the Blackhawks though, they did give up a tying goal, but at least it took more than 13 seconds to give it up this time. Alex Killorn would light up the lamp past Crawford 5 minutes and 7 seconds later after getting the puck from Valtteri Filppula and Steven Stamkos. That would be all she wrote for the second period though as it appeared that we were going to be heading to another low scoring, defense featured game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

It was a quite tense final period for both teams, but then the Blackhawks got the pressure put squarely on them as they took a third period lead and it was mainly a question of whether or not they could hang on to the lead tonight. They got the lead with 13:38 left in the period when Brandon Saad took the pass from Patrick Kane and got it behind Bishop for the lead. That would be the final goal of the game though, as Bishop would get pulled but no one would get the puck into the empty net or use the extra man advantage to get one past Crawford.

Game 5 of the series is going to be on Saturday, June 13 and will take place at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
