With the 13th pick in the NHL draft, that they acquired from Los Angeles Kings in the Milan Lucic trade, the Boston Bruins selected defenseman Jakub Zboril. He is from Saint Jones in the QMJHL and was born in the Czech Republic.

Last season in his only season  for the Sea Dogs, Zobril scored  13 goals and recorded 20 assists in 44 games played.  He finished third in scoring for rookie defensemen in the QMJHL. He earned a spot on the QMJHL rookie All Star Team. He was a finalist for the Michael Bossy Trophy, which is awarded to the best professional prospect in the QMJHL.

Boston selected a good defensemen in this draft in Zobril. He will replace the toughness that they lost in Milan Lucic when Boston shipped him to the Kings for this pick. He might take a few years to be a good player but he will be great defensemen for Boston which was one of the biggest weakness of the team last season.

With the original 14th pick in the NHL draft, the Boston Bruins selected left winger Jake DeBrusk from Swift Current of the WHL. He is from the city of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. He is the son of former NHL player turned hockey analyst  Louie DeBrusk.

Last season for the Current he scored 42 goals and recorded 39 assists, in 72 games played. He is one of the best pure goal scorers of the WHL, as he was tied for sixth in the WHL in goal scoring. He can create a lot of scoring chances with his good hands and speed. He will be a great goal scorer once he reaches his full potential.

Boston got a really good snipper in DeBrusk. He has the ability to score 20 plus goals a season, once he comes into the league and reaches his full potential. Goal scoring was one big problem for the team last season and DeBrusk is going to be a reason they fix that problem right away when he steps on the ice.

With The 15th pick, they acquired from Calgary for Dougie Hamilton, the Boston Bruins selected left winger Zachary Senyshyn from Sault Marie Greyhounds of the OHL. He is from Neapan, Ontario, Canada.

Last season for Greyhouds, Senshyn scored 26 goals, second among OHL rookies, while recording 19 assists in 66 games played.  Senshyn is an offensively gifted goal scorer who shoots the puck well and does a great job getting open to take timely shots.

Boston is adding another prospect in Senshyn who can score 20 plus goals in a season, when he gets into the league. It might take him a few years to develop like the rest of the first round picks Boston picked. It will be worth it once he reaches his full potential and is producing for the Bruins.

Overall this was a good start to the Boston Bruins offseason; it started with some blockbuster trades ended with some good draft picks that can produce for them in a few years. Boston has a lot of work to do this offseason if they want to turn this team around from last season. Making the playoffs again proves that they are just retooling not rebuilding.
