Open quotes!
After game four, Verhaehe spoke about the match: "It was crazy," said Verhaeghe, who scored twice. "We tied at the end and made some good plays. I mean, it's an overtime kick, so we're lucky we got it first.''
"I felt like that's how we played, and it didn't come to that," said Panthers coach Andrew Brunette. "We got to a period, I thought, of Game 3, parts of Game 2. Game 1, not really. So I thought it was our best effort. It felt like our team."
"There's not a lot of room to start, and they're a team, they take the lead and it's hard to come back," said Reinhart, whose playoff goal was his first in the NHL. "It's hard to find that space, especially when they're defending so much more trying to protect it. We managed to keep that and we got a jump at the end. It's an inch game, and tonight proved that."
"We wanted to go in and make our best game in the series and I think we did a good job tonight," Verhaeghe said. "It's just kind of a building block. We know we have another level to go to, and we're a great team, so I think it's just building a little bit of trust."
"Overtime in the Stanley Cup playoffs is something else, and getting an overtime win is amazing, I'm not going to lie," said Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov. "But we still have a lot of work to do. We still have a lot to improve and we're doing well. We're excited to come home and try to win the next one.''
How does the Florida Panthers arrive?
The Florida Panthers ended the regular season with the best overall record in the NHL. There were 122 points, with 58 victories and 17 defeats. Team with the most wins and least losses in the league. The Florida team is one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup, but in the first match of the postseason, it has been a difficult series against the Capitals, who finished eighth in the Eastern Conference.
Open quotes!
"We forced them to turnover and attacked quickly after that," says Kuznetsov. "Good pass. This is something we've been focusing on for a few years now."
"The third period was our best period," says Caps coach Peter Laviolette. "We went out and played hard. The first half of the game was kind of hampered by power plays and penalties, and there wasn't a lot of 5-on-5 time, not a lot of 5-on-5 chances. and we gave up a little too much in 4-on-4. But we pushed in the third period and we got where we wanted to be."
How does Washington Capitals arrive?
The team from the American capital finished the regular season in eighth position, last of the teams that went to the playoffs. He took the Florida Panthers, first in the Eastern Conference with 122 points. The postseason match had a lot of favoritism for the Florida team, but the series remains tied with the Washington Capitals making great games. In the last 10 games, the Capitals have won just three, two against the Panthers in the playoffs. In that period, there were seven defeats.
