During the 2016 NHL Awards show, history was made.

Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks won the Hart Memorial Trophy on Wednesday night. The award is given out annually to the league's MVP. Kane became the first U.S born player to win the award in the history of the NHL.

Another year, another trophy for Kane

For Kane, this trophy is just another piece of hardware for him. At just 27-years-old, Kane has already won three Stanley Cups, a Conn Smythe Trophy, and Art Ross Trophy and also the Ted Lindsey Award.

Kane has been one of the NHL's best young talents for a long time now and it is good to see Kane finally taking home the Hart Trophy. Kane, who led the NHL with 106 points (46 goals, 60 assists), is the first American-born player to win the Art Ross Trophy as the League's scoring leader and the first American-born player to win the Hart Trophy.
