Brad Keselowski did it again in a practice session this morning. The Sprint Cup Series driver was 2nd on the charts with 30 seconds to go on the clock, but on his final lap around Watkins Glen International he went to the top of the speed chart with a 72.123 second lap time.

With 15 seconds remaining on the clock in Nationwide Series practice last week at the Iowa Speedeay he went quickest and took the top spot on the speed chart away from Ty Dillon.

Sprint Cup Series driver Marcos Ambrose, who is pulling double duty with eight other Cup Series drivers, was top for most of the 80 minute first practice session for the Nationwide Series after posting a 72.714 on his first run out.

At the end of the session the top five drivers on the board were all Sprint Cup Series regulars and the highest placing Nationwide Series driver was Ty Dillon in the #3 car in 6th with a time of 72.699 seconds.

The session began with Ambrose in the #9 Stanley Ford car setting the early fast lap time. Keselowski in the #22 car, last years winner of this race, was 2nd after ten minutes had elapsed on the clock.

Brendan Gaughan, a Nationwide Series regular, in the #62 car who won the first Road Course race of the season back in June at Road America posted a 75.109 second lap time on his first run to put him in 8th.

The first trouble of the session came when Kyle Busch in the #54 car, another Cup Series regular, went for a spin in the Carousel turn after clipping the grass coming out of the Bus Stop turn. His time on the previous lap was good enough to put him 2nd a 73.259.

Nationwide Series points leader Chase Elliott in the #9 car posted a 74.216 on his first run on track to go 9th overall after 15 minutes had gone.

But then the long delay under a red flag came when Roger Reuse in the #74 car spun going in to the late turn, turn 7, and clipped the inside barrier blocking Ryan Reed in the #16 car behind him. The car started to leak fluid on the track which resulted in a lengthy clean up period.

The green flag was back out with just 30 minutes left in the 80 minute session and straight away there was all it's trouble when Cup Series rookie Kyle Larson in the #42 car and Nationwide Series rookie Dylan Kwasniewski in the #31 car were running together, Larson clipped the grass and went wide but they avoided contact around the Bus Stop turn.

Joey Logano jumped from 4th to 2nd on his second run out with a 72.781 second lap time with 25 minutes left on the clock.

Ambrose increased his lead at the top with a 72.665 second time on his second run out and Keselowski went into 3rd with a 72.942 second time on the same lap.

More trouble with 20 minutes left as double duty driver Landon Cassill spun in the same place as Busch but carried on without damage to the #1 machine.

With 18 minutes to go Keselowski went fastest with a 72.621 second time as Matt Kenseth in the #20 car went into 2nd with a 72.723 second time but spun out of turn 7 next time around and sustained big damage to the rear end of the car.

New drivers were going to the top in the last five minutes as Paul Menard went quickest with a 72.531 second time and Ambrose once again increased his time but stayed in 2nd with a 72.561 second lap time.

But as the clock was ticking down on the session Keselowski went to the top of the board with a 72.123 second time, almost half a second quicker than anyone else on track and finished the session as the fastest driver.
