In June of 2006, Sebastien Bourdais achieved his fifth victory on an oval at the Milwaukee Mile. On Sunday, he won again on the historic oval, giving the four-time champion his sixth oval win and 34th overall - tying him with the two-time Indianapolis 500 champion Al Unser Jr. for seventh on the all-time win list.

The win was another addition to the 36 year old's impressive career that spans from IndyCar, Formula 1, and sports cars.

I respect the stats because you put yourself on a very special list with very respected and great drivers," said Bourdais. "But I don't live for stats."

After qualifying 11th, Bourdais led a race-high 118 laps in the No. 11 Team Hydroxycut Chevrolet for KV Racing Technology, holding off the Team Penske No. 3 Chevrolet of Helio Castroneves by a margin of 2.2366 seconds for the victory at the ABC Supply Wisconsin 250.

Castroneves was the hard charger of the day, by starting last and finishing second at an oval where track position, and a top starting spot is key for success. Coming off his win at the exciting MAVTV 500, Graham Rahal finished third for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, while points leader Juan Pablo Montoya finished fourth for Penske.

First time pole sitter Josef Newgarden led 109 laps in the No. 67 CFH Racing Chevrolet before rounding out the top-five.

"On these ovals, you can go from hero to zero and back to hero again. I guess that's my story," said Bourdais, whose win this past Sunday was his second of the year after winning at Race 2 in Detroit. "It's so much about momentum when you can feel one with the car, and today the guys gave me an awesome car."

After winless part-time drives in 2011-2012, Bourdais returned in 2013 with Dragon Racing before competing full time in 2014 with KV Racing Technology. Sebastien Bourdais now has three wins in the last two seasons with KV Racing and is currently holding the sixth spot in the points race. Bourdais won the aforementioned second race of the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit and has secured five top-10 finishes through twelve races of the sixteen race schedule.

Sebastien Bourdais will seek his 35th victory Saturday night as the Verizon IndyCar Series heads to Iowa for the Iowa Corn 300. Follow @VAVELIndyCar for coverage leading up to and during race weekend.
