Ahead of next weekend's Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America, the Corvette Daytona Prototypes of the flagship Prototype class as well as a few entries in the GT Le Mans category will face Balance of Performance adjustments.

Corvette DPs

The Chevrolet-powered Daytona Prototypes have been quite dominant thus far this season, having won six of seven races overall, with the Riley-Ford DP of Chip Ganassi Racing winning the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.

However, as the TUDOR Championship heads to Road America for next weekend's round, Ganassi as well as Michael Shank Racing and Mazda Motorsports are certain to have better chances of beating the Corvette DPs, which face a round of Balance of Performance changes issued on Thursday by IMSA.

All Corvette DP's will head to Wisconsin with a 10 kg minimum weight increase. Adding to that, the cars will have to race with a 0.3 mm smaller air-restrictor.

These changes have been made in the wake of the Corvette DP's superior straight-line speed and solid corner speeds - both of which would put them at a clear-cut advantage at a track like Road America. With these changes, a speed deficit will be the result.

The teams impacted are Action Express Racing, Wayne Taylor Racing, and VisitFlorida.com Racing.

Changes In GTLM

Ferrari has been having it's fair share of trouble in the last handful of races, hence the reason for their BoP. The F458 Italia recieves a taller rear wing for improved downforce.

Porsche will be also pleased with the change to their 911 RSR, with the height of the gurneys being reduced.

Also, both of these machines will lose 10 kg of minimum weight.

The teams that field these cars in the GT Le Mans category that will be impacted by this are Team Falken Tire, Risi Competizione, and Porsche North America.

These are the first BoP changes since the Sahlen's 6 Hours of The Glen.
