Stefan Bradl signed a deal to compete in the nine remaining races of the 2015 MotoGP World Championship for the Aprillia Racing Team Gresini starting at the upcoming Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.

Bradl replaces Laverty

Aprillia struggled to provide results in their comeback season, therefore Marco Melandri to leave the team by mid-season.

Aprillia test rider Michael Laverty stepped in to replace Melandri at the Sachsenring for the GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, the most recent round, finishing 20th. Laverty will go back to his duties as a test rider for the team with German rider Bradl replacing him for the remainder of the season.

Difficult times for Forward Racing

Forward Racing's future, meanwhile, remains uncertain after team owner Giovanni Cuzari got arrested for tax evasion. Although that was reason for Bradl to leave the team, every other rider contracted with Forward will remain with the team, including now former teammate Loris Baz.
