The 2016 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule was unveiled by IMSA - as well as the new title sponsor - on Saturday night at a "State of the Series" event.

WeatherTech will become the new main sponsor of the current TUDOR United SportsCar Championship effective on November 1, 2015.

Next year will see 11 races for the Prototype Challenge, GT Le Mans and GT Daytona categories while the flagship Prototype class will race 10 times.

The season will begin with the 54th Rolex 24 at Daytona at Daytona International Speedway in late January. The twice-around-the-clock opener will be followed by Sebring, Long Beach, Laguna Seca, and Detroit's Belle Isle before the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International has been pushed to a week later to better accomodate for teams that make the trip to Le Mans.

Returning for 2016 is Lime Rock Park, but next year the GTLM category will join the two Am categories for the weekend.
