Pre-Race Notebook

- New Hampshire Motor Speedway is a 1.058-mile oval with two-seven degrees of banking in the turns and just one degree on the front stretch and the backstretch.

- Joey Logano won this race last year, but Kyle Busch was victorious at New Hampshire in July.

- When the green flag drops on Sunday afternoon, Jeff Gordon will officialy pass Ricky Rudd with his 789th consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start. Since his debut in 1992, Gordon has not missed a race, which comes out to approximately 22 straight years of racing. In his streak, Gordon has four series championships, 92 wins, 323 top fives, and 467 top 10 finishes, which blows away the stats that Rudd amassed during his streak, where he only won 23 races and earned 375 top 10 finishes.

Kevin Harvick is in a do-or-die situation for the second-straight Chase, as he wrecked in the Chicagoland race and ended up finishing 42nd, meaning that he will most likely need a win in one of the next two races to advance to the next round. In his career, Harvick only has one win at the next two tracks that the series visits, which came in 2006 at New Hampshire.

Clint Bowyer also needs a win to advance, as he received a 25 point penalty from NASCAR for a P4 level violation. In addition to losing points, his crew chief has been suspended for three races. The punishments are being appealed, according to a statement from NASCAR.

- If Kyle Busch wins this weekend, he will become the first driver to sweep a track this season, as he won the July race at New Hampshire during his streak of wins after he returned from a broken leg.

- One notable debut happening at New Hampshire is that of Ryan Preece, who is considered racing royalty in the northeast. He will race in the No. 98 Tommy Baldwin Chevrolet at the track that is just 180 miles away from his hometown of Berlin, Conneticut.
