With four hours and 38 minutes remaining in the 2015 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship's season finale, IMSA has thrown the red flag, bringing on-track activity to a halt.

With heavy rain moving toward Braselton, Georgia where Road Atlanta is located, IMSA's decision to bring the field into pit lane can be justified - although Sebastien Bourdais, after climbing out of the No. 5 Corvette DP of Action Express Racing, said that the track conditions were improving.

Race Director Beaux Barfield expects the race to get back underway within the hour as the race clock continues to count down from 10 hours where the final race of the year began.

We felt it appropriate to take a pause and let this cell get past us, which I’m confident it will,” Barfield told IMSA Radio during the early stages of the red flag period. “Once we get the track regained, we are prepared to wait it out and restart this race.”

Barfield told Fox Sports that one of the methods in place during the red flag to get the track "ahead" and in better condition is trenches, which are being dug in certain locations around the track to aid in the drainage of standing water from the racing surface. Also, Barfield noted that he doesn't quite trust the radar he has seen and is judging the forthcoming weather by the lightening of the rain that has been falling and because of that and the progress that has been made in removing standing water via the trenches and trucks, he thinks racing will return soon.

At the time of the red flag, Bourdais leads overall in the No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP ahead of Jordan Taylor who was in Wayne Taylor Racing's No. 10 car before the race was stopped. Third overall in the race is the leading GT Le Mans car, the No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR of Porsche North America driven by Patrick Pilet. The No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports ORECA FLM09 of Mike Guasch remains at the front of the Prototype Challenge class as Andy Lally was at the head of the GT Daytona class when the red flag was thrown, driving the No. 44 Magnus Racing Porsche 911 GT America.
