The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is heading to one of the most famous tracks on the circuit this weekend. Talladega Superspeedway is known for the "big one", but the VAVEL NASCAR team picked who they think will survive and conquer this weekend.

Current Standings

Here is the current standings after the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway

This week's picks

Mark Smith

Driver: Tony Stewart

Reason: "It's great to see Smoke back racing in NASCAR after his back injury and this week at Talladega the driver of the Mobil 1 Chevrolet will get the #14 to Victory Lane. Stewart will be raring to go and his 19th place finish at Richmond last Sunday showed that the three time champion started as he means to go on by battling all race after such a long time out of the car. Smoke will rise this week in Alabama!"

Brandon Farris

Driver: Jimmie Johnson

Reason: "Talladega. One of the hardest voices all year as anything can happen here and anyone can win. Will it be someone from Joe Gibbs Racing once again, or do we see a new team in victory lane? I'm playing it safe with Johnson, because while he may not win, that Hendrick power will help push him forward and keep him towards the front all day."

Stephen Furst

Driver: Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Reason: "When it comes to restrictor plate racing, there is no better pick right now than Dale Earnhardt Jr. Dale Jr pretty much owns Talladega Superspeedway at this point in time. Watch for Dale to take his #88 Chevy to the front and stay there all day and bring home the checkered flag."

Stevie Larson

Driver: Chase Elliott

Reason: "Elliott entered the season with sky high expectations, but so far has not lived up to them. Even though he doesn't have as much experience at Talladega, there have been surprises there before. Look for the rookie to take his Hendrick Motorsports Chevy to victory lane on Sunday afternoon."
