In the second leg of a home and away series, DC United hosts the New York Red Bulls in desperate need of a win. New York defeated DC at Red Bull Arena by a score of 2-0 to put them in the driver’s seat en route to the Eastern Conference Finals

In game one of the series, 2014 MLS Golden Boot winner Bradley Wright-Phillips added another goal onto his season total, which was the eventual game winner, and Peggy Luyindula put in the dagger in the 73rd minute. Thierry Henry assisted on both goals. Wright-Phillips now has 30 goals on the year, good for third best all-time behind Carlos Ruiz (32) and Roy Lassiter (33).

Fabian Espindola had a few good chances at goal for DC, but was unable to find the back of the net. Keeper Bill Hamid could only do so much to try and keep United in the hunt for the conference finals. Hamid had five saves and intervened on three set pieces, but the goal keeper of the year candidate let a goal in on either side of the half.

The Red Bull lineup will likely remain untouched, but questions are floating around on whether Tim Cahill will start. The Australian has had a lackluster season, playing only 1,500 minutes and tallying two goals and two assists. Cahill started in the knockout game against Sporting Kansas City, but was left on the bench by coach Mike Petke for the DC match.

Certainly Bradley Wright-Phillips and Thierry Henry will start at RFK. BWP has three goals in two games in the playoffs, and needs just four more goals in a potential four games to break the all-time single season goal scoring record, set in the inaugural 1996 MLS season. The New York Red Bulls continued their streak of scoring at least one goal in each game they've played at Red Bull Arena; a streak that started on March 15th, the first game in New Jersey.

DC United needs to score at least two goals this Saturday, but will arguably be relying on their defense more than anything. Throughout the entire season, coach Ben Olsen has leaned on his defense to bring him to first place in the Eastern Conference. DC United boasted an MLS best 37 goals against during the regular season, right alongside the LA GalaxyBobby Boswell will be anchoring the DC defense as he's done all year, and might be reunited with Sean Franklin return to the starting lineup after coming back from injury. Franklin played the final 20 minutes in the first leg when he came on for Taylor Kemp.

However great the United defense may play this Saturday, Eddie Johnson and the rest of the team will have to put two goals past Luis Robles to have a chance at reaching the conference finals. There's some cause for concern from United fans as their DP Eddie Johnson hasn't quite panned out like they had hoped. Johnson finished the regular season with only seven goals and three assists. Fabian Espindola and Luis Silva led the team with 11 goals each. Silva is still questionable for the second leg after being ruled out 4-6 weeks from a hamstring injury back in October.

Playing in DC United's favor is the fact that New York has never won a playoff game at RFK Stadium. DC United has to score two goals without conceding any to force extra time, and possibly penalty kicks. If New York can score a goal they will own the away goal tiebreaker, which would force DC to have to score four goals. More good news for United, the Red Bulls have failed to score at RFK during the 2014 season. If New York pulls out a series victory, it will be their first ever series win in the playoffs against DC United. In each game between DC and New York has featured at least one goal and a shutout from the winning side.

Saturday's game will kick off at 2:30 Eastern time, and will air on NBC. The winner will face the series winner between the New England Revolution and the Columbus Crew.
