The United States Soccer Federation announced on Monday that the United States Men’s National Team would face off with Guatemala in their Gold Cup tune-up Match. The match will take place on July 3rd in Nashville, Tennessee at LP Field, the home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.

"They are similar to our opponents in the group stage, so we couldn't ask for better preparation,” said USMNT manager Jurgen Klinsmann in a statement released by US Soccer. He went on to say, “Our goal is to win the tournament, and this will be an important first step. Nashville has always been a great home to the national team, and we look forward to having a fantastic crowd at LP Field."

The United States will be playing in Group A against the likes of Honduras, Haiti, and Panama before entering the knockout rounds. There is a chance that Guatemala and the United States could meet in the quarterfinals if Guatemala finishes third in Group C. There is a very good chance of that with opponents like Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, and Cuba.

This will be the tenth all-time meeting between the two senior sides. The United States holds the advantage with four wins to three and two draws. The USMNT is on a six-match unbeaten streak and has not lost to them since 1984.

Guatemala has never won against the United States on US soil as well losing all four previous matches while being outscored 13-1, including a 6-0 defeat as part of the 2013 Gold Cup tune-up match.
