Wednesday was quite a big day for the United States Men's National Team. Not only did they secure a first ever win over the German National Team in Germany, but manager Jurgen Klinsmann released his provisional 35-man roster for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Headlines from the roster include the reintroduction of Matt Besler and Omar Gonzalez to the national team fold, the exclusion of the injured Jermaine Jones, and DaMarcus Beasley coming out of international retirement. Klinsmann said that there are three reasons why he wants Beasley back in the squad: 1.) He still considers Beasley one of the USMNT's top left backs. 2.) He likes Beasley's off-field leadership capabilites. 3.) Klinsmann wants to field his strongest possible side. Beasley too spoke out after the roster announcement, and said that “[Klinsmann and I] spoke at length, and I took my time to think about it,” Beasley said. “So I am available for the Gold Cup if he wants me to play.”

Additionally, there is room on the roster for young Stanford striker Jordan Morris, but surprisingly there is no place for striker Bobby Wood. Wood has made headlines twice in the last week by scoring late winners in the USMNT's 4-3 friendly victory over the Netherlands and the 2-1 victory over Germany.

The United States will be looking to equal Mexico's record of six Gold Cup titles this summer, and the Americans enter this tournament as reigning champions. They know that, if they win, they will qualify automatically for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. If they do not, they will face a playoff with the winner of this summer's tournament.
