In her first game back for the Chicago Red Stars, World Cup winner Christen Press scored in the 90th minute to help Chicago snatch three points on the road. The NWSL table leaders started off strong in the first half when they had three prime chances to take the lead.

Vanessa DiBernado had a great chance in front of the goal but was denied by another member of the U.S. Womens team in Alyssa Naeher. Sofia Huerta, who has been one of the NWSL's top rookies this year, sent a curler heading for the right post but was denied by Naeher again. Then Melissa Tancredi received a great ball from Huerta but Naeher was there again with a brilliant kick save. If not for their goalkeeper, the Boston Breakers could have easily been down 3-0. The hosts then came back with a great chance when a right-footed shot went just past the right post. Overall, the Chicago defense who welcomed back another member of team U.S.A in Julie Johnston, only allowed three shots on goal and was dominant from the start. With their defense solid at the back, Chicago kept pushing for the opening goal and they almost took the lead again in the 30th minute.

Huerta received a tough ball from fellow rookie Danielle Colaprico and was off to the races towards goal. But her attempt was blocked by Naeher who came off her line and sprawled to make the save. With the form Naeher was in tonight, Chicago was left wondering if they would ever score. But then they found the net right before halftime when Alyssa Mautz redirected a cross right into the feet of Tancredi who did not miss the tap in.

It was a slow start to the second half for both teams, but then Boston grabbed an equalizer out of nowhere and it was all of a sudden game on. Stephanie McCaffrey, who scored in the previous fixture versus Chicago, whipped in a cross and was headed in Kyah Simon. It was a great goal by the Boston forward and seemed to be the thing that turned the game on its head. Moments later, Kristie Mewis missed a free kick that seemed to turn and knuckle in the air. But the ball hit the left upright and it surely would have been a great goal to see, but it was just not Boston's day.

Then Chicago came back right after when Christen Press cut inside to her right and fired a shot just wide of the post. It seemed destined for another draw between these two teams. However, Press would receive a great layoff pass from Jen Hoy to slot home the game winner and stun Boston. Hoy received a great through ball from Huerta and gave it to Press who won the game for Chicago.

That turned out to be the game-winner as Chicago walked out of Boston with a key three points to maintain their lead in the NWSL standings. The Red Stars are still in first place but only by one point as the Seattle Reign once again kept pace by winning tonight as well. The advantage still goes to Chicago as they have a game in hand over the Reign. As for Boston, they are still in second to last place with one point seperating them from Blue Sky FC. Chicago will take on third place Washington next while Boston will face Sky Blue FC in their next fixture.
