Los Angeles Galaxy will have the chance to grab control of Group D in the CONCACAF Champions League (CCL) with a victory. Their opponent will be prestigious Guatemalan club, Comunicaciones F.C. on Tuesday night at StubHub Center.

The Galaxy has been busy as of late, by Tuesday night they will play their fourth game in 12 days. Los Angeles has just recently played on Saturday against FC Dallas at the Toyota Stadium at Frisco, TX.

The Galaxy left the Lone Star State with a 2-1 victory, but it did take tool since the match combined for 31 tackles and 21 fouls. The starters will need to catch their breath since LA will be back in action on Sunday when they face New York City FC at home. That match against New York will be their fifth game in 17 days.

Comunicaciones F.C. road to victory:

Head coach Bruce Arena will be forced to search his bench and possibly the Los Angeles Galaxy II roster to put players on the field for Tuesday. That might give the Guatemalans their best chance of earning an upset in Carson, Cali.

With the match being at the StubHub Center, Comunicaciones will enter with very little pressure to win the game. Therefore the Central Americans will play this match with a very relaxed approach.

Comunicaciones main goal is to disrupt LA’s rhythm and shake the confidence of the youth and non-starters early in the match.

Los Angeles Galaxy road to victory:

For Arena, there is an endless amount of young talent between the two rosters at his disposal. The first thing he will need to do is make sure that these players are not afraid to run at their opponents.

Guatemalan club defenses have proven before in the CCL that they jump easily and may commit silly fouls at times. Putting players on the field that will attack the defense and force them to make decision early in the game is what the Galaxy has to do.

Predicting the Galaxy’s starting XI:

Regardless that Arena stated he will be playing a lot of the first team players on Tuesday.

“We plan to put out a near first choice lineup for our match against CSD Comunicaciones,” Arena told LA Galaxy Insider, Adam Serrano on Monday. “I would expect that Giovani dos Santos will see the field as we look for our second positive result in CCL play.”

If the veteran coach does bring in the regulars, it will most likely be in the second half. The only reason why any of the players who started against FC Dallas on Saturday will start on Tuesday is because of a last second injury.

GK: Brian Rowe

Donovan Ricketts has played in four straight games since he arrived back in LA. It might be time to let the 38-year-old goalie rest and let Rowe get his shot to play.

DEF: Oscar Sorto, Tommy Meyer, David Romney and Dan Gargan

Omar Gonzalez, A.J. DeLaGarza, Robbie Rogers and Leonardo all played 90 minutes against Dallas on Saturday and they will most likely be rested on Tuesday. So it’s time to let new faces play against Comunicaciones.

Sorto and Meyer have been on the cusp of making the senior squad and a good CCL run might help them make that jump. Gargan is the leader of the bunch and Romney is there to fill a void.

MID: Ignacio Maganto, Kenny Walkers, Rafael Garcia and Jose Villarreal

The midfielders are young but they do have first team experience. These players will be looking to impress Arena with a solid performance against Comunicaciones.

Maganto and Villarreal are two attacking minded players that will fest on a very eager defense. Both players also have good success in the CCL and will be looking to continue their good run in the tournament.

FWD: Bradford Jamieson IV and Alan Gordon

Gordon will most likely captain the side, like he did against Central FC last Thursday in LA’s CCL opener. The midfielders will need to make sure that they give Gordon multiple chances to finish some crosses.

Jamieson will be looking to get back on the scoring sheet for the first team again. His first and only goal so far came against the New York Red Bulls on April 26th. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw at the Red Bull Arena.

Since that game he has not scored for the senior squad and has had five more chances to do so. The Guatemalans will be a perfect opportunity for the U.S. youth international to break his scoring drought with the first team.

Prediction: Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1 Comunicaciones F.C.

The Galaxy will have the pressure to secure the six points and gain complete control of the group. The Guatemalans will give LA a tough challenge at the StubHub Center, but in the end they will fall behind.
