Sebastian Giovinco has been huge since his arrival in Toronto prior to the start of the 2015 MLS season. He has played in every game so far and has played in 2,132 of a possible 2,250 minutes. He has scored 17 goals and assisted on 13 others; both are good for second in the league.

He was recently called into Italy’s national team camp, but left Monday afternoon due to picking up an adductor injury in the 51st minute of the team’s 2-1 win over the Montreal Impact. This injury could be a huge blow to Toronto FC and their playoff chances. It all depends on how long he will be out. These injuries can vary on how long it takes to come back from. If you use Seattle Sounders forward Obafemi Martins injury as an example, Giovinco could miss up to two months.

Toronto Head Coach Greg Vanney would not rule out him playing this coming Saturday against the Sounders; “very little chance, but we'll see as he recovers come the end of the week.”

“We were going to lose him this weekend one way or the other,” Vanney said. “I see this as an opportunity; a chance for him to relax, physically and mentally recover, and prepare for the final stretch. Sometimes injuries are hidden gems.

"It's an opportunity for a couple of guys to get a run out,” Vanney continued. “We're going to need everyone as we push towards the playoffs.”

Vanney will now have to look at the other forwards on the team as Giovinco and Jozy Altidore have scored 27 of Toronto’s 44 goals this season. “The good thing is we have lots of forwards in our team,” said Vanney. “With Jozy and Seba away, we move into Luke [Moore] and Robbie [Findley] and Herc [Gomez]. We have options that we're very comfortable with. We'll make an assessment over the week and pick the group that will give us the best shot.”

They still have a lot of options coming off the bench, but missing Giovinco for more than a couple of weeks will severely hurt Toronto in the long run. Even if he isn’t scoring goals, he is a constant threat to opposing teams and makes Toronto more dangerous.
