The Los Angeles Galaxy is on the verge of becoming the second Major League Soccer (MLS) club to qualify to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League (CCL). All they need is a positive result on the road on Wednesday and they will advance. LA will be traveling to Trinidad & Tobago to take on Central FC at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

The Galaxy is in the middle of a heated MLS campaign to win the Western Conference and the Supporters’ Shield. So LA’s head coach Bruce Arena has left a few of his starters to rest and it is time for his youngsters and bench players to step up in Trinidad & Tobago.

However, even without Robbie Keane, Giovani Dos Santos, Omar Gonzalez, Steven Gerrard, Sebastian Lleget and others, the Galaxy are still determined to get three points.

“We’re coming here to win the game,” Arena told LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano. “That’s our objective.”

Los Angeles only has two games left in the CCL group stages, and they just need one more point to secure to their ticket to the next round. With six points and a positive nine goal differential, if LA finishes group D with the max 12 points then they might be able to secure a high seeding in the quarterfinals.

The Galaxy’s reserve and youngsters will have to be able to find a result on the road. Veterans Alan Gordon, Baggio Husdic and Dan Gargan will have to carry the team in the Caribbean Nation. Gordon, who is currently the number two goal scorer in the 2015-2016 CCL campaign with three goals, will have to led the offensive push on Wednesday.

Players like Jose Villarreal, Ignacio Maganto, Bradford Jamieson IV and Rafael Garcia will have to give the Galaxy that offensive strength with the absences of the regulars. However, they will have to be patient since Central FC has nothing to lose, and with this being their last game in the group stages they will be on the offensive.

The CCL newcomers are currently second in the group with three points and a negative four goal differential. If they lose or tie the match they will be eliminated. Three points is the only way they will have chance to advance. Even with a victory there is no guarantee Central will make it, since they need the Galaxy to lose their final match against Comunicaciones F.C. on Oct. 21st. However, first thing the Trinidad &Tobago club must do is make sure they defeat LA by a few goals to help improve their goal differential.

LA’s goalie Brian Rowe will have to be ready for the pressure that Central FC will bring on Wednesday in their elimination match.

Prediction: Central 0-2 LA

The Trinidad & Tobago club will put immense pressure on the MLS side, which will create holes in their defense. The open pockets in Central’s defense will give Gordon, Jamieson, Villarreal and Maganto chances to split them open.
