Only 23 will be selected. During the last few days, Peruvian National Team national team manager Ricardo Gareca, released their preliminary 40-man roster for the 2016 Copa America Centenario, which will be hosted by the United States.
Without the stars and full of promises
As it was announced by the Peruvian media, the 'Incas' will be without a number of their main players, notably Claudio Pizarro or Jefferson Farfán.
While forward Pizarro is having a rough time with his team Werder Bremen (Germany) midfielder Farfán has been out since his last injury in December. Additionally, his team Al Jazira (UAE) announced that the Peruvian number 10 will not be retained for next season.

In addition to Farfán and Pizarro, manager Gareca decided to not call up Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany) defender Carlos Zambrano and Newell's Old Boys (Argentina) wing back Luis Advíncula to give opportunities to the youngsters.
In this group of new talents, such players like Sporting Charleroi (Belgium) midfielder Cristian Benavente, Numbancia (Spain) full back Alexander Callens and PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands) forward Luiz da Silva are the favorites to be in the final 23.
Universitario will form the base of the team
At the moment, Universitario de Deportes is enjoying a fantastic time in the Peruvian League, which has led to a number of their players being included in the preliminary squad.
Goalkeeper Carlos Cáceda, full back Miguel Trauco and forward Raúl Ruidíaz are some of the players that made the 'crema' team who are headlining Peruvian Soccer at the moment.
It is expected that Gareca will release the final squad of 23 players on Friday, May 13.
