New York City FC confirmed on Tuesday that Ghanaian midfielder Kwadwo Poku could be moving to NASL side Miami FC in the coming days. Head coach Patrick Vieira informed the media that discussions were underway but no deal was completed.

The 24-year old has struggled to find a place in Vieira's plans this season, making just seven appearances so far this season. The midfielder enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2015 and played 27 times for the club but could find himself a Miami FC player in the next few days after a disappointing 2016.

Vieira Confirms Rumors

Vieira spoke to the media on Tuesday and addressed Poku's absence from training, saying, "There are discussions between the two clubs and there's interest from the player to go there as well." While the former Arsenal man did confirm talks with Miami FC, he refused to discuss why Poku is on his way out.

"If the deal happens and he's going to Miami, then yes, we can elaborate a little more, go into more details." Vieira finished by saying that it is "a little bit too early to talk about Poku."

Tough 2016

The midfielder had been unable to beat out the likes of Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo for a spot in the starting lineup and only played 25 minutes in total during the month of June. With just one goal in seven appearances this season, it may be best for Poku to move on and find form elsewhere.

Poku had registered five goals and seven assists in 34 games since joining NYCFC from the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2015. Miami FC will begin playing in the NASL in 2016 and are managed by Italian legend Alessandro Nesta. Poku will have the chance to return to the North American Soccer League, where he played with Atlanta, and continue developing under the watchful eye of Nesta.
