Minnesota United FC is facing a very short week, as not only did they last play on Saturday, but after Wednesday's game they have another short turnaround, as they play again on Saturday against Miami FC. Their first opponent is the league's newest member, Puerto Rico FC, which is owned by NBA player Carmelo Anthony

About Puerto Rico FC

Puerto Rico is as new as a team can get. They just started play with the beginning of the fall season a few weeks ago. They are the third club to enter the league this season, but the only one to join at the beginning of the fall season.

In their six games played, they have one win, two draws, and three losses, which gives them five points, good for 10th place in the fall standings. They are currently in last place in the combined standings, mostly because they missed half of the season. They are coming off a 3-0 loss to the New York Cosmos that saw them fall behind early, with a final goal scored in stoppage time.

Puerto Rico is led by goals leader Hector Ramos, who has four, good for second in the league behind only United's Christain Ramirez. The only other player to score a goal so far is Tyler Rudy, who has one goal. Ramos also leads the team in shots, and shots on goal

About Minnesota United

The Loons are coming off a 2-2 draw with Rayo OKC that saw the Loons get a 2-1 lead late, thanks to goals from Ramirez and Justin Davis, but OKC responded just seconds after Ramirez with a late goal to salvage a draw.

The Loons are led in goals by Ramirez, who already has 12 goals in just five matches. Kevin Venegas leads the team in assists with six, but Ramirez isn;t far behind, as he sits in second place with three assists.

As a team, United is easily one of the hottest teams in the league right now, as they are 3-1-1 in their last five matches, and sit in fourth place in the league standings. It's a good start to the fall season for a squad that suffered a mini-meltdown near the end of the spring season.

The challenge for us is to remember that we are in the driving seat in terms of the league,” said Minnesota United Head Coach Carl Craig. “If we decide to go at teams then that's our prerogative, but I don't think we can afford to sit around and wait for errors to happen. We've got to drive the game. We've got to go at Puerto Rico, and ultimately go and seal the deal.

"I think one of the things our home field gives us in addition to the brilliant fan base and support from our people here is that we play on our natural surface, and the other teams probably like that as well. When we don't play on a turf field every day. This is a nice big field. A great fan base that will cheer us and roar us on.”

The match will kick off a flurry of matches for United, as they have seven matches this month, with four of them coming on the road, including three straight on the road to end the month.
