Track limits
The FIA officially announced that for this 2021 version of the Brazilian Grand Prix there will be no track limits at the José Carlos Pace circuit.
Classification changes, sprint makes its debut at the Brazil Grand Prix
For 2021, the FIA implemented a new qualifying system in Formula 1. This change stipulates that Friday will be free practice 1 and qualifying based on Q1, Q2 and Q3. This qualifying will define the starting grid for the sprint qualifying. On Saturday, free practice 2 and a short qualifying, called sprint qualifying, which is no more than 100 kilometers long, will be held. This sprint qualifying will determine the final starting grid positions for the final race on Sunday.
The sprint classification will award three points in the drivers' world championship table to the winner, two to the second and one point to the third.
Fastest lap record in São Paulo
Valtteri Bottas set the record for the fastest lap at the São Paulo circuit during the 2018 Formula 1 World Championship. The Finn's record was 1:10.540 aboard his Mercedes AMG F1 W09 EQ Power+.
Autódromo José Carlos Pace
The Autodromo José Carlos Pace has been part of the Formula 1 calendar since 1973. This circuit has a length of 4.309 kilometers and two DRS zones that make overtaking possible. The race will have a total of 71 laps and the record for the fastest lap is held by Valtteri Bottas when in 2018 he achieved a time of 1:10.540.
