With a hat-trick by Jonathan David and another goal by Alphonso Davies, Canada defeated Suriname 4-0.

The result left the Canucks top of Group B with 12 points, advancing them to the second round of the qualifiers, where they will face Haiti in a double-header.

For their part, the Suriboys bid farewell to their aspirations of reaching Qatar 2022, finishing second in the group with 9 points.

The Rouges have accumulated nine points after winning all three of their matches and are in the lead thanks to their superior goal difference (+22).

Last Saturday, in Florence, they beat Aruba 7-0, with goals from Lucas Cavallini (2), Junior Hoilett, Zachary Brault, Alphonso Davies, Cyle Larin and Jonathan David.

CONCACAF Playoff Format

The first round is contested by the teams ranked between sixth and thirty-fifth in the FIFA rankings, and will be placed in six groups.

The first place in each sector will advance to the second phase, in which they will play a series; the three winners will advance to the third round.

In the last stage, there will be an octagonal round to define the three nations that will advance to Qatar; the fourth place will play a playoff.
