Tunisia remain unbeaten and with a 100% record, Zambia can lose the second place to Equatorial Guinea or Mauritania, who meet later and were defeated in the opening match. The African Qualifiers continue in October. On the 5th, Tunisia hosts Mauritania and Zambia faces Equatorial Guinea away from home. 

49' Gabonese referee Eric Otogo-Castane points to the center of the pitch and ends the match at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. Tunisia win away from home and take the lead in Group B.

49' Ali takes a free-kick near the corner flag on the left side, Cyril Chibwe puts Sautu and Chepeshi in the box and the ball is lifted in the middle of the area. The goalkeeper makes a double save and looks for a quick replacement in the attacking half, but no one from Zambia can reach the ball and the referee blows the whistle for the end of the second half

47' BEN SLIMANE! After a quick exchange of passes in the attack, Ali makes a deep pass to Ali Ben Romdhane on the left, he goes to the back line and hits a cross, the goalkeeper closes the angle and the ball explodes off his body, but returns to the middle of the area. The number 23 picks up the rebound and pushes into the empty goal with his left foot. Chanda tried to clear the ball on the line, but his strong shot swings into the net.

This is the penultimate stage to decide who goes to Qatar. The 40 teams are divided into groups and only the leader of each group advances. Tunisia represented Africa at the last World Cup in Russia, along with Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, and Senegal. The Carthage Eagles only played in the first round because they lost to England and Belgium and finished 3rd in group G. Their only victory came against Panama, 2-1.
