Thank You!
Not the result Tottenham wanted and poses more questions than answers, but thank you for tuning in.

Full-Time Reaction
2-2. Spurs start with a point in their toughest game. Clear issues still, but good to come back for a draw after falling behind. Will ask on Moura and Bergwijn injuries. #THFC — Jonathan Veal (@jonathandveal83) September 16, 2021
Ndombele a positive, Hojbjerg the master when he came on. A couple of fringe players fluffed their lines again #THFC

Bryan Gil Down
Bryan Gil down with a possible injury after the full-time whistle.
FULL-TIME
Tottenham are held to a point by Rennes in France.
Full-time: 2-2
94' - Spurs Pushing
Spurs with all the possession now but struggling to forge a clear-cut chance.
91' - Spurs Chance
Joe Rodon just heads wide from a cross into the box. Hard to generate the power for him there.
90' - Added Time
Five minutes added on.
88' - Emerson Down
The corner is cleared and play is stopped as Emerson goes down with a head injury. He is up and about soon after.
86' - Corner
Rennes earn a corner late on.
85' - Rennes Pressure
A couple of attacks for Rennes, although both end with the ball bouncing behind for Spurs goal kicks.
83' - Booking
Bryan Gil - Yellow card
82' - Chance Spurs
Much better from Bryan Gil. He plucked the ball out of the air and drove past his man before cutting back towards the byline and flashing a cross towards goal. The defenders cleared.
79' - Rennes Chance
Laborde drags just wide after the ball was set back to him on the edge of the box. Gollini was stranded.
78' - Chance Spurs
Hojbjerg creates some nice space in midfield and releases Emerson Royal. The wing-back decides to go for goal rather than cross to Scarlett and it goes way over.
76' - GOAL SPURS
Tottenham make me eat my words. Seconds after I say they are creating nothing, Doherty swings in a cross, it pops up and Hojbjerg finishes well.
75' - All Rennes
The home side look the most likely to score the next goal. Spurs, once again, struggling to create anything at all.
Dark Day For Spurs
As things stand, Spurs have flown to France and picked up injuries to Bergwijn and Moura without even earning a point...
72' - GOAL RENNES
Rennes are 2-1 up! A shot from the edge of the box is parried out into the danger zone by Gollini. Laborde taps home the free rebound.
71' - Shot On Target
After an aerial ball is allowed to bounce and headed on by Emerson, Hojbjerg rather scuffs a volley down the throat of the keeper.
Formation Update
Tottenham now have a front three of Bryan Gil, Dane Scarlett and Emerson Royal. Okay.
68' - Scarlett Chance!
Dane Scarlett gets between the two centre-backs and Bryan Gil finds him with a cross. His header goes wide.
66' - Ndombele Balling
Tanguy Ndombele with his own episode of Skill School down the left wing, sending a couple of Rennes players for dummies. May have been a nutmeg in there too.
65' - Rennes Chance
Rennes create another chance on Ben Davies' side, this time blazing their shot over the bar.
64' - Rennes Chance
Rennes work an easy crossing chance from their right side but the resulting header flies over.
64' - Gil Wasteful Again
Third chance to cross in a few minutes for Gil. Another set-piece this time as Emerson wins a free-kick. Unfortunately, Gil finds the gloves of the keeper again.
62' - Wasted Cross
Ndombele sets Bryan Gil away down the left, but the young Spaniard can only find the gloves of the keeper.
61' - Ndombele Working Hard
Ndombele not only looks like the one bright spark for Spurs going forward, but also doing plenty of running and defensive work too. Tracked all the way back to win a goal kick just now.
Armband Update
Ben Davies is now wearing the captain's armband after Kane left the pitch.
58' - Free-Kick Wasted
Gil blazes the free-kick over the bar, despite the box being packed with Tottenham players to attack a cross.
57' - Free-Kick Spurs
Emerson Royal wins a free-kick in a dangerous position for Spurs.
54' - Harry Kane Subbed
Harry Kane is substituted. Dane Scarlett now on.
53' - Moura Off Injured
Moura cannot continue after all. He comes off hobbling still and Emerson Royal replaces him.
52' - Rennes Chance
Rennes get in down their left-hand side, flashing a cross past the front post. Joe Rodon does incredibly well to get ahead of his man and block the shot.
51' - Tanganga Down
Japhet Tanganga goes down holding his knee after an awkward landing but he seems to be up and moving freely again.
50' - Ndombele Chance!
Finally, some creativity for Spurs! Ndombele flicks a ball around the corner to Kane and runs beyond. Kane finds him in the box and Tanguy pokes just wide. Much better.
49' - Moura Update
Moura is back to his feet and hobbling. A shake of the head here and there implies he is still struggling with the pain but he is playing again.
48' - Moura Injury
Lucas Moura gets his ankle trapped between opponent and turf in a challenge. He is down in a lot of pain at the moment.
45' - Second Half
We are underway again! No changes for Spurs at half-time.
Can Spurs Take Control?
Will Oliver Skipp and his teammates step up and take control of the second 45?

Half-Time Reactions
That was briefly quite promising for Spurs then turned into a bit of a slog. Rennes grew into the game and when they started moving the ball quickly Spurs didn't have much of answer. Maybe the injury/sub will work in their favour, let's see in the 2nd half. — Jack Pitt-Brooke (@JackPittBrooke) September 16, 2021
Half-Time! 1-1
It's level at the break after Rennes had a diving header chance in the dying seconds. A rather worrying first 45 for Nuno and Tottenham who were second best by a long way.
45' - Free-Kick Rennes
A free-kick for Rennes is hit long and out harmlessly for a Spurs goal-kick.
43' - Ndombele Frustrated
Ndombele makes a good run off the shoulder of the last defender but Doherty chooses to come back and play a safe pass to Skipp. Ndombele frustrated by that.
42' - Kane Shot
Harry Kane works a shooting chance from the edge of the area after a nice move but the angle is tight and the strike ends up straight at the keeper.
40' - Spurs Free-Kick
Kane wins a free-kick on the right-side of Renne's defensive third. Lucas Moura looks to be the one who could make something happen in the final minutes before half-time.
38' - Spurs Formation
Spurs have moved to a 4-3-3 with Bergwijn off. Midfield three of Skipp, Hojbjerg and Ndombele. Front three of Gil, Kane and Moura.
36' - No Change
The pattern of play is consistent. Rennes pressing and creating attacking opportunities. Spurs struggling to hold the ball for more than a couple of passes.
31' - Bergwijn Off Injured
Steven Bergwijn is off injured after a late challenge. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is on.
30' - Rennes Chance
Another Rennes chance, this time from the left side as a cross squirms under the forward and is just about collected by Gollini.
29' - Rennes Are Up For It
The crowd is bouncing here and the Rennes XI are feeding off that energy with the attacks continuing to come.
28' - Spurs Struggling
Spurs cannot keep the ball out here. Gil now gives away a free-kick in his own half. Nothing comes of it.
23' - RENNES GOAL
The home side have been knocking on the door here with a lot of pressure in and around the Spurs box. It finally tells as Flavien Tait curls one past Gollini from the edge of the box.
20' - Big Rennes Chance
Tanganga sits off and Rennes work a shooting chance from just inside the box. Gollini saves well and the rebound is headed over by the Rennes forward. Let-off for Spurs.
18' - Spurs Breakaway
A promising Spurs break is slowed down by Bergwijn almost stumbling over. The ball eventually made its way back to Ben Davies who just misses a leaping Lucas with his cross.
17' - Ndombele Down In The Box
Harry Kane finds Ndombele in the box with a beautifully weighted long pass, but the Frenchman takes a tumble under pressure from the defender. Nothing given and Tanguy doesn't appeal either.
13' - Bergwijn Scuffle
After a disagreement at the top end of the pitch, Bergwijn and Rennes skipper Traore end up foreheard to forehead. No bookings issued.
12' - Rennes Attack
Doherty beaten too easily at right-back, but the Rennes cross that was flashed across the nearpost is cleared by Tottenham.
11' - GOAL TOTTENHAM
A ridiculous backheel from Ndombele keeps the ball in play, with Skipp laying it to Harry Kane who plays Moura in behind. Lucas' cut back deflects off the defender and trickles past the keeper. Own goal.
8' - Ndombele Touches
Tanguy Ndombele is seeing plenty of the ball, with that trademark close control, holding off the Rennes players and carving space. The final bass isn't there quite yet.
6' - Rennes In Behind
Rennes manage to get in behind down the right but the pull back into the box is harmless and easily cleared.
5' - Slow Start
Tottenham haven't quite settled yet, with some misplaced final passes and the odd chance for Rennes to catch them on the break.
Kick-Off!
We're underway in Rennes!

The French side are also without centre-back Lovro Majer who misses out with a hip injury.
Tottenham Team News
Tottenham are, unfortunately, without key first-team trio Eric Dier, Heung-min Son and Ryan Sessegnon due to injuries.
South Americans Cristian Romero, Giovani Lo Celso and Davinson Sanchez are still training in Croatia after their international break.
However, Steven Bergwijn does recover in time to make the trip to France.
