Miami's season has been on a steady downward trend since a winning streak was stopped late in the summer in September. After being six undefeated in August, Phil Neville's team has just two wins in its last eight.

Unfortunately for Miami, he is tied for last place on the East's scoring list, with just 33 points in 31 games. His defense is only slightly better, with the fifth worst record in the conference.

Today's game kicks off a four-game streak in a week and a half for Atlanta. Getting all three will be vital for both morale and playoff positioning. Atlanta is currently tied on 43 points with the Red Bulls and Montreal, but just two ahead of DC United, which ranks ninth.

Giving points to Miami, however, would mean for Gonzalo Pineda's team to miss the postseason for the second year in a row.

Atlanta United currently holds a five-point lead over Inter Miami, who are looking to make a belated effort to secure a playoff spot as the regular season enters its final phase.

Inter Miami won their second straight game at home thanks to a resounding 5-1 win over FC Cincinnati last Sunday. Gonzalo Higuaín scored twice to put his side in control of the game at DRV PNK Stadium.

After a six-game losing streak, the Herons have racked up six of the next six available points, but it appears to be too little too late, as they are five points from last in the playoffs after playing one more game.

Atlanta United failed to clinch its fifth home win after a 1-1 draw against New York City FC on Thursday. Gonzalo Pineda's men took the lead in the 17th minute through Marcelino Moreno and were ready to take all three points before Gudmundur Thorarinsson reached parity in the last minute of regulation.

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a multisport stadium located in the city of Atlanta in Georgia, United States where the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL and the Atlanta United FC of the MLS play at home.
