NYCFC play their final road match of the regular season when they visit DRV PNK Stadium to face Inter Miami.

The Boys In Blue are on 47 points after sweeping a two-match homestand against D.C. United and Chicago while the Herons lost 2-1 at Atlanta United.

NYCFC can clinch a playoff spot if they avoid defeat and one of several other teams lose while Miami can be eliminated if they lose or draw this match.

The Herons are missing Ryan Shawcross, Joevin Jones, Kieran Gibbs and Victor Ulloa through injury.

NYCFC will again be without Anton Tinnerholm, who is recovering from an Achilles injury. Nicolas Acevedo, Gudmundur Thorarinsson and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi are all sidelined with lower body issues.

Ones to watch

Federico Higuain (Inter Miami)

Acquired by the club on October 20th, 2020, the Argentine has scored three times and contributed four assists in 28 appearances. He played alongside his brother Gonzalo, becoming the 18th pair of brothers to appear in an MLS match together.

They were the first brothers to score in the same match in April and after announcing his retirement on Friday effective at the end of the season, he brings to a close a long and stellar career.

Valentin Castellanos (NYCFC)


During the Boys In Blue's two-match homestand against D.C. and Chicago, he showed why he was the club's most important player, scoring three times and bringing his total to 16 on the season, tied for second in the league.

Previous meetings

This is the second meeting of the season between the two sides with NYCFC claiming a 2-0 victory in August.

Castellanos opened the scoring in the 20th minute and added a penalty in first-half stoppage time.
