New Technology to detect Offside

In this event, FIFA will implement a technology that automatically detects when players are offside, with a view to implementing it in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The artificial intelligence system was installed in six stadiums and works by sending an instant message to the VAR referee when a player is offside; subsequently, the referee in the court will make a decision as to whether he was interfering with play or not.

November 30, 2021 10:33 AM ET

This is how the teams arrived

Before reaching the final phase of this FIFA Arab Cup 2021, the preliminary round was played in June of last year. Sudan, Oman, Mauritania, Lebanon, Palestine and Bahrain sealed their pass on the court for such an important event, while Jordan qualified directly without contesting the qualifiers, since several players of their rival, South Sudan, had COVID-19.

These seven teams joined the nine teams automatically classified for their good place in the FIFA World Ranking: Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, United Arab Emirates and Syria, as well as Qatar, host of the contest.

It will be a rematch for both teams

The match between the United Arab Emirates and Syria promises many emotions after the two teams met in a fascinating clash in September, in a World Cup qualifier that ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Emirati national team is confident that their star forward Ali Mabkhout will maintain his winning streak against a Syrian side who have re-signed Valeriu Tita as their coach. The Romanian coach will try to get something positive out of this match, before the Emiratis and Syrians meet again next January, in the second round of the qualifying group for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

It is the first fully Arab competition organized FIFA, and it does so in the framework of preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will be held in a year in Qatar.

The tournament will be played in six stadiums designated for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, and the venues will be put to the test for next year's big event. The stadiums in question are Ahmed Bin Ali, Al Janoub, Al Bayt, Ras Abu Aboud, Al Thumama and Education City. Given the proximity of the stadiums and the good communications, fans will be able to attend two games in the same day and thus live a unique and unforgettable experience.
