Both Joey Veerman and Fodé Fofana have already made their PSV debuts, now is the first time they have appeared as starters for the team. A good moment for both players. For Veerman it is only his second game with PSV, while Fofana makes his practically his debut after coming through PSV's youth academy.
Striker Eran Zahavi is also back after being absent for a few weeks due to injury. The captain's armband is on Mario Götze's arm tonight.

In the previous round of the Dutch Cup, Telstar eliminated Spakenburg with a 5-3 extra-time victory after a 3-3 draw in normal time.
Now, the team led by coach Andries Jonker tries the almost impossible mission of eliminating PSV, away from home. And if they succeed, they will advance to the quarterfinals of the KNVB Beker, a title they won in the distant 1937/38 season, when it was still called VSV.

In the previous round, PSV dispatched Sittard with a 2-0 victory. On that occasion, the Japanese winger Ritsu Doan opened the scoring in the 28th minute. And, in the second half, he himself scored the second goal and ensured the classification of the Albirroja.
Now, the team coached by German Roger Schmidt tries to confirm the winning field and reach the phase in which the eight best in the competition will be. For this, the team relies on its very offensive soccer (it is the second best attack of the Dutch Championship, with 47 goals scored).

SC Telstar go into the round of 16 of the Dutch Cup knowing they are complete underdogs. The team is currently in the Eerste Divisie, the second division of the Dutch Championship, and occupies 13th place with 23 points from 22 games so far.
In the last round of the Dutch second division, the team beat Maastricht, at home, by the score of 2-1. Telstar's two goals were scored in the first half, when Glynor Plet, in the eighth minute, and Ozgur Aktas, in the 26th, made it 2-0. In the second half, Maastricht reduced the deficit in stoppage time, but there was no time for an equalizer.
PSV:
Current leaders of the Eredivisie, PSV Eindhoven now turn their attention to the Dutch Cup. The team is currently on a five-game winning streak, four of them in the Eredivisie and one in the Dutch Cup round of 16 against Fortuna Sittard.
In the first official match of 2022, against Groningen in the 19th round of the Eredivisie, the club from the city of Eindhoven won 1-0, away from home, and remained at the top of the domestic league. The only goal was scored by German midfielder Mario Gotze, after only 10 minutes, and after that PSV could not extend the lead.
THE KNVB CUP:
The second main competition in Dutch soccer, the Dutch Cup (or KNVB Cup) is played on a knockout system. Since the 2016/17 season, the competition starts with two qualifying phases, with only amateur teams. Then the main competition runs through six stages, from the first, with 64 teams in all, to the grand final. The qualifiers are decided in a single match. However, if the tie persists during normal time, the matches go into extra time. If the tie still holds, the decision is decided by penalty shootout.
TIME AND PLACE
The KNVB Cup is the second major tournament for teams in the Netherlands. PSV arrive for the match after eliminating Fortuna Sittard, 2-0, in the second round of the knockout competition. Telstar, meanwhile, beat SV Spakenburg with a thumping victory. The match was tied 3-3 in normal time, but Telstar went ahead in extra time and qualified. The match kicks off at 2:45 pm (EST) at the Philips Stadion, PSV's home ground.
