Mexico Statements

Gerardo Martino, coach of the Mexico National Team: "The squad we will present tomorrow, regardless of the players that make it up, is exactly the same as in other matches, with the idea of going out to star in the game, to take charge of the match and try to win it, but beyond the names, as I said before, nothing changes with respect to what we have done or intended to do on other occasions."

"I expect a physically aggressive opponent, trying to go out looking for the match because it is one of the two chances they surely have to go for the top three or four places. Surely there is going to be a much more aggressive approach from Jamaica, for example than what we saw when we played in Mexico and, above all, understanding that they have a much more complete squad than on that occasion."

"It is their last chance to get closer to qualifying, for sure there is going to be a physically much more aggressive proposal than what we saw when we played in Mexico."

"César is out of the delegation that came to Jamaica because he came with a positive Covid from a test they did in Monterrey after the match against Cruz Azul, so he stayed at the CAR recovering, we have the expectation that over the weekend he can already overcome the Covid and be with us normally".

"In reality, one thing is not unrelated to the other, as long as we get closer and better to the idea of the game, we will probably have more chances to get as many points as possible."

"Absences always weigh and in no case are they welcome, but we have always tried to get ahead, and we will do so because it is not the selection of three players, but of Mexico."

"We are not unaware of the situation we are in. We got ourselves into a zone we didn't want to be in because of the two defeats in the United States and Canada. Just as we put ourselves in a comfortable situation in September, in the same way we accept that those two defeats hurt us a lot. We have a lot at stake in these games.
