Mexico's Statements

Monica Vergara spoke at the end of the first match of the Preliminary Round: "During the match the opponent gave us problems, we will work to generate more options, to have better associations and better finishing. They are teams that, like us, are in development and we have to face them with all due respect, without minimizing them and with 100% of what we have as a team."

"They know perfectly well who they are competing against in each position and we are forming a real team. There is a lot of respect for the rivals, a pride of belonging and a lot of ambition to improve, committed to take the responsibility of being disciplined and examples to follow. Today all our fans are seeing their commitment to put women's soccer in our country at that level. There is a lot to work on, but it is a good start. I'm very proud of my players and I know we're still going to improve."

"Delighted with the fans, we are very grateful, it is an incentive to have the support of the people and that it is noticeable that we are playing at home."

"It's a very even team, I can look at them and I trust them completely, their level is to be on the court, you will see rotations because their quality is enormous and they have the hunger to wear the uniform. They are very committed to give their best and are also aware of the competition in their positions.
