Andre Shinyashiki made his Charlotte FC debut a memorable one, scoring the only goal of the match in a 1-0 victory over Inter Miami at Bank of America Stadium.

The forward, acquired by the expansion club just four days ago, scored in the 68th minute as Charlotte extended their winning streak at home to four while handing the Herons a second consecutive defeat.

Charlotte sit eighth in the Eastern Conference standings, just a point out of the playoffs while Inter Miami are second from bottom despite a recent club-record four-match winning streak.

Story of the match

The early stages of the game were controlled by the hosts as they came out aggressive, attacking with intent over the first 25 minutes.

In the 33rd minute, Robbie Robinson and Kieran Gibbs played a neat one-two which led to a chance for the latter, but his shot was held by goalkeeper Kristjan Kahlina.

After more neat build-up play by Miami, Leonardo Campana found newly acquired Indiana Vassilev in the box, Kahlina again equal to the task.

Gibbs had another excellent opportunity in the second half as Bryce Duke found him, but the ex-Arsenal man was stoned by the impressive Kahlina.

With just over 20 minutes to go, Charlotte found the eventual match-winner. Yordy Reyna burst up the left-hand side of the pitch and crossed a low ball across the box that found Shinyashiki, who fired a shot past the far post of Drake Callendar.

Reyna would have a chance to double the lead three minutes from time, beating DeAndre Yedlin, but his effort went harmlessly past the near post.

Man of the match: Kristijan Kahlina

He made six important saves, including those stops on point-blank chances by Robinson and Vassilev to preserve a clean sheet and ensure all three points for Charlotte.
