Warned against overconfidence

The Mexican U-20 National Team had no problem qualifying for the Round of 16 in the CONCACAF U-20 Pre-World Cup, but coach Luis Perez warned of how dangerous the teams can be.

"We've seen Puerto Rico quite a bit. We saw the tournament a month ago, we saw their participation and the pre-elimination matches, which were fairly balanced and well-directed. Without a doubt, with all due respect, one hundred percent of them play in the USL and in Europe, they are important and we must have respect for them and work on what corresponds to us. They are undoubtedly a team that individually have good players," he said.

Founded on love

One of them is Jonathan Pérez, who said that the decision he made to play for Mexico was based on the love he has for his parents, on the sacrifice they made for him to fulfill his dream.

"For me it is to pay for all the sacrifice they had with me, they worked for me to fulfill my dreams and it is the least I can do, that they see me with that shirt and sing the anthem," he said.
