The Seattle Sounders continue their homestand as they host Sporting Kansas City at Lumen Field.

The Sounders are unbeaten on their current five-match homestead with wins over Charlotte 

Playing their third match in seven days, Kansas City is finding their form having upset Nashville last weekend and advancing past Union Omaha in the quarterfinals of the US Open Cup.

Manager Brian Schmetzer will be without the services of Joao Paulo (ACL tear), Yeimar Gomez (right hamstring strain), Xavier Arreaga (left hamstring strain), Raul Ruidiaz (left hamstring strain) and 16-year old Obed Vargas (stress fracture in lower back).

Sporting Kansas City

Korte Ford is questionable with a head injury while both of Kansas City's designated players, Alan Pulido and Gadi Kinda are out after having knee surgery.

Joining them on the sidelines are Ozzie Cisneros (hamstring) and Nikola Vujnovic (calf).

Jackson Regan (Seattle Sounders)

The rookie center back has stepped in for Gomez wonderfully and is among the league leaders in clearances, aerials and blocks, garnering MLS Team of the Week honors.

Johnny Russell (Sporting Kansas City)

With Pulido out for the season, the 32-year old Scotsman is relied upon as the team's primary threat in attack and he leads the club with five goals.

Previous meetings

Last October, Sporting Kansas City came away with a 2-1 victory with the defeat for Seattle clinching the Supporters Shield for New England.

Twice the Sounders failed to clear their lines and Remi Walter curled home in the fourth minute to put Kansas City in front.

Seattle equalized as they pressed high and after driving into the Kansas City box, Nicolas Benezet finished on 58 minutes.

After Tim Meila escaped a sending off after throwing Cristian Roldan down, Johnny Russell won the match for the visitors in the 79th minute.

The match will be streamed nationally with ABC carrying the English-language broadcast and ESPN Deportes having Spanish-language coverage.

Kickoff is set for 3pm Eastern time.
