LAFC, leaders of the MLS Western Conference, expects Gareth Bale to make his debut on July 8 in the derby against the Los Angeles Galaxy, the club's general manager, John Thorrington, announced Tuesday.
Carlos Vela will continue at Los Angeles Football Club after renewing his contract until 2023. But he had two offers from Liga MX teams, he revealed in a press conference. The striker did not give names of the teams, so he assured that staying in the United States or going to Europe was his priority.
Carlos Vela said he is looking to finish his career playing for LAFC, and even reiterated his desire to lift an MLS title with Steve Chrundolo's side.
"That was one of the main reasons why I still want to stay at this club. I want to work very hard to bring this trophy and enjoy it, I hope until the end of my career here," he concluded.
LAFC broke the transfer market by bringing in Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini, in addition to securing the renewal of Carlos Vela, Marco Garces, LAFC's Director of Operations, revealed that the renewal with Vela was not complicated.
"We had an agreement with Vela before Bale was known, although it was not part of the negotiation for him to stay, I think it makes him stay much happier."
At halftime against New York Red Bulls, the owner of the Black & Gold box was questioned about whether the market was closed, to which he responded that:
"If the right opportunity presents itself, we will take it. And everything indicates that we are heading in that direction.
Neither Bale nor Chiellini signed as a franchise player, something that came as a surprise, however, Thorrington assured that:
"Neither of them had financial issues as a priority. They are players who still have something to bring to us and who know what we have achieved in a short time."
Everything is ready for the 2026 World Cup to pass through North Texas with the AT&T Stadium. By that time, the U.S. national team could be made up of several players who have ties to FC Dallas.
"We have a crop of young players with ties to FC Dallas who are already on the U.S. national team and will be in their prime in four years. It would be wonderful to see them play at AT&T Stadium in the 2026 World Cup," said FC Dallas owner and Dallas 2026 World Cup Organizing Committee Chairman Dan Hunt.
FC Dallas has exercised a permanent buyout on goalkeeper Maarten Paes through December 2025 with club options for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, recording four clean sheets in 14 games so far this season.
