They had a contract
David Medrano, a journalist for TV Azteca, revealed that the red-and-black Atlas already had a contract with Barcelona to play the 2022 edition of the Joan Gamper, a match that Pumas will now play.
Medrano assured that the reason why this match did not take place was because of the MLS All-Star Game, in which Liga MX is involved. The Rojinegros, by regulation, have to give up the players called up for that game.
Back to training
The Toluca Red Devils started off on the right foot in the tournament, so they have another piece of good news, Haret Ortega returned to training after suffering a knee injury at the beginning of the preseason.
Fight for the title
Brayan Angulo acknowledged his responsibility and that of the rest of the team to fight for the top positions, due to the great investment. He spoke to the media last Wednesday, making it clear that they are looking to return the team to the place it deserves.
"It is a club that has that obligation, that mentality; because of history, and because of the group that has been assembled. We know that we have to go step by step. We have the desire to fight for important things", said the defender.
He discards Toluca
The Uruguayan Luis Suárez confirmed that he had at least two offers from Liga MX teams: Toluca and Cruz Azul, which he ended up rejecting, since Mexican soccer "is not an option".
In an interview with 'Último Al Arco', an Uruguayan radio program, Luis Suárez revealed that he rejected Liga MX due to the altitude.
New sanction
The Disciplinary Commission vetoed a home game to the cheering groups of Monterrey and Atlas, after violating the agreement taken last March, since the cheering groups were forbidden to attend away games of their team.
"This Commission has decided to sanction Club Atlas, given that its Cheer Group failed to comply with the Agreement taken by the Liga MX Club Assembly, as well as with Article 79 of the Liga MX Competition Regulations, in which it was established that no Cheer Group may attend its Club's away matches. Therefore, access will be prohibited to the Club Atlas Cheerleading Group for their next home game (Day 3 Atlas vs. Cruz Azul)," was informed about the foul provoked by the Atlas cheerleaders.
They do not succeed in Europe
Toluca's DT, Ignacio Ambríz assured that Mexicans who arrive in Europe have high prices and end up not adapting.
"It's not that the Mexican player is making a mistake, I think he wants to go (to Europe), I think that at times the price of the player is also very expensive and then adapting to European soccer is not easy," said Nacho.
Back to Europe
Juan Pablo González, a Toluca youth player, has returned to France to train with Lyon in search of an opportunity to stay in European soccer.
According to French media L'Équipe, the 18-year-old forward will train with the N2 team for three weeks to try to convince scouts.
Appreciates the recognition
Alejandro Irarragorri's Grupo Orlegi has provoked multiple criticisms in recent months, all after Atlas' two-time championship. Such has been the discontent of the fans of the other teams that have promoted the hashtag #LigaOrlegiMX, alluding to their growth within Mexican soccer.
This movement has already reached Alejandro Irarragorri, who did not hesitate to ironize.
"Thanks for the Liga ORLEGI thing, the recognition is appreciated... the impotence of those who don't know how to win and tear themselves apart to explain the inexplicable is amazing. 6 Liga championships in 32 tournaments, let's go for more," wrote the manager on his Twitter account.

No confidence
Toluca is only interested in getting a win against Atlas, and Tiago Volpi emphasized that, despite the fact that the Red Devils have more absentees, the Red Devils are focused on playing their game.
"Yes, they have some injuries, but at the end of the day they are the two-time champions of Mexico, they are a team with a lot of quality, so the player on the other side must be respected and play the match in the same way as if they were the best eleven that Atlas had. We are focused and aware of the commitment we have on Sunday and we hope to be able to get a good win in front of our fans", stated the Brazilian goalkeeper.
New reinforcement?
Despite the fact that last Wednesday they presented four reinforcements, the Rojinegros del Atlas are thinking of continuing to incorporate players to their roster, the candidate is the Paraguayan Josué Colman, coming from Club Guaraní.
Paraguayan media report that the player has not shown up for training with his team and everything seems to indicate that he has already signed a pre-contract with the team; however, the club has not commented on the matter.
