England Women's Statement
England player Bethany England spoke ahead of the match: "I ended up working for three and a half years in a chippy, doing night shifts on Fridays and Saturdays. I would start around 10pm and finish between 5 and 6am. Then I'd sleep for a couple of hours and go straight to my soccer game, and then I'd do the night shift while I was at college.
"You'd be surprised how many people want fish and chips after a night out! It's just not for me.
"I've done everything. I've worked in a bakery, I've worked in a factory, I've worked in M&S and I've worked in an Indian."
England's time spent working in a fish and chip store hasn't stopped him enjoying the odd chippy when he's been allowed and he has confirmed that he can indeed batter a good fish and chip.
"So, although I'm probably a bit of a late bloomer for everyone else, the fact that I'm here means I feel very lucky and privileged that the hard work I've put in has paid off."
