The Philadelphia Union and Rais M'bohli have agreed to go their separate ways after the club terminated the Algerian international's contract on Monday.

This is obviously great news for them, and all fans should be relieved. Rais was signed by the Union after the 2014 World Cup, but was signed to an absolutely lucrative contract.

In MLS, there is no way you should be paying a goalkeeper nearly 1/6 of your entire budget, especially when the Union already had Zac MacMath and #1 overall pick Andre Blake. Not only that, Rais also only played nine games for the team and was horrendous in those nine games. His record in those nine games was 1-4-4 and he single-handedly ruined Philly's playoff hopes last year. Moreover, he was also considered a "locker room cancer" by Union beat writers, as he was not well liked by his teammates.

Many reports have stated that M'bohli's next move will be to Turkey. The club he has signed with is Antalyaspor, the same team Cameroonian legend Samuel E'to signed with earlier this year. The Union did not receive any transfer fee for the move.

Philadelphia has done a good job this summer getting rid of players that were holding the team back massively. Recently, Carlos Valdes also left the team by mutual consent. Valdes was on the team's roster for more than two years, but did not want to play for the team so he was sent on multiple loan opportunities.

With these two moves, the Union have freed up as much as $750 000 off their budget. We'll see how the club can use this large sum of money to improve the team come January.

They currently sit in ninth place of ten team Eastern Conference with little hope of making the playoffs for the second time in club history. They are currently only one point out from the sixth and final playoff spot, but they have a tough stretch of games coming up. They have eight games remaining and they have to play the following clubs to clinch that final playoff spot: New England Revolution (twice), San Jose Earthquakes, Columbus Crew, Houston Dynamo, Toronto FC, New York Red Bulls and Orlando City

They do have a chance to pick up the clubs first ever trophy later in September when they host Sporting KC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
