Arsenal has been revealed as the opponent for the 2016 MLS All-Star game in San Jose.

The Gunners will play in the annual game on July 26th, and the match will be played at the San Jose Earthquakes' Avaya Stadium.

The announcement was made in a video shared by the MLS and Arsenal Twitter accounts which showed players such as Sebastian Giovinco, Kaka, Laurent Koscielny and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry contemplating the prospect of Arsenal touring California in the summer, to which the video ends on Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, agreeing on the idea.

Wenger said in a club statement: "Preseason is a critically important time for us and we are delighted to be going to San Jose and Los Angeles to participate in the 2016 MLS All-Star game and to play Chivas.

"We have tremendous support across America and enjoyed our visit to New York in the summer of 2014 when we played the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena.”

This will be the second year in a row that the All-Stars play an English team, and the ninth English team in 12 years.

Last year, the All-Star team faced Arsenal’s biggest rivals Tottenham Hotspurs in a 2-1 win for the MLS side in Colorado.

Arsenal are one of the most popular sports teams in the world and one of the most decorated football teams in England. The North London club has won 13 league titles in England's top flight division, a record 12 FA Cups, two League Cups, and 14 Community Shields.

The Gunners have seen some former players represent the All-Stars in previous years. Henry has played in four All-Stars games during his time with the New York Red Bulls, and former Seattle Sounders and Chicago Fire winger Freddie Ljungberg captained the 2009 All-Star team against Everton.
