Washington Capitals superstar winger Alex Ovechkin has won the Maurice "Rocket" Richard trophy. The trophy is awarded annually to the NHL's top goal scorer. Ovechkin has won the award four years consecutively and six overall.
Reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Jake Arrieta and Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale have led both Chicago clubs to the top of their leagues in the early season. The two have combined for a 9-0 record and a 1.30 ERA though the first month of baseball while giving the city of Chicago something to cheer about early on.
The Washington Nationals are starting to get used to disappointing fans and experts by perennially coming up short on expectations. In 2015 many thought they would be the team to beat, but they didn't even make the playoffs. A nice silver lining though is the fact that they have an official NL MVP on their team now in Bryce Harper. The thing that appears to have been holding them back is team chemistry, so hopefully Dusty Baker will be able to help things trend in the right direction in that department.
