In the last quarterfinal match of the women's doubles, Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova knocked out the number one pairing of Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza 6-2, 6-4 in one hour eight minutes on Court one to reach the last four at Wimbledon. The fifth-seeded pair will face tenth seed Raquel Atawo and Abigail Spears for a place in the final. 

Babos and Shvedova run away with opening set

It was the Swiss, Indian pair that started quicker in the match. They held their opening service game and then in the following game had two break point chances. However, Babos serve got her out of trouble both times and brought the game to deuce. Shvedova hit a slice at the net in which Hingis couldn't return and the Hungarian, Kazakh team got on the board for 1-1. In the upcoming game, Babos and Shvedova took advantage of poor serving from Hingis and fashioned a break point chance of their own at 40-15.

The Hingis serve wasn't at it's strongest as she served a double-fault which then gifted the game to the fifth seeds. Babos hit a smash at the net and the team consolidated to go 3-1 up on the world number one pair. With the score at 4-2, Babos and Shvedova continued to trouble the world number one team and grabbed another break point chance after taking control of the net and putting away a neat slice. The Hungarian Babos then  took advantage of more poor serving from Hingis and smashed a return forehand down the line for 5-2. It was Shvedova who served the game out to love to grab the opening set 6-2. 

Fifth seeds take control of match, book spot in semifinals

Babos and Shvedova kept up their game and continued to trouble Hingis and Mirza. They immediately broke the world number one pair at the first time of asking. After falling behind in the rally, Shvedova then stepped up her game, started to control at the net with good hands and eventually won the point and held to go 2-0 up. After five games without holding, Hingis then got the pair out of a mini-rut and got on the board in the second set at 2-1. Babos and Shvedova were put under pressure in the next game. Following a Babos shot, Mirza then produced a ridiculous angle forehand which landed in and the number one seed had break point at 30-40. Shvedova got the pair out of trouble, but Hingis and Mirza fashioned a second break point opportunity at adv.

Once again Shvedova produced a wonderful serve which caught Mirza off balance and they saved another break point. The Hungarian, Kazakh team saved another break point before going on to hold for 3-1. Hingis and Mirza's match seemed to be all but over when at 30-40 after a good exchange at the net from both pairs, Hingis tried to go for too much and netted a forehand which gave the fifth seeds a 4-1 lead. They consolidated for 5-1. The Swiss, Indian team held for 5-2 and in the next game they broke and held serve for 5-4. However, any momentum that was building ended as Babos served out a masterclass hitting four straight first serves which caught the team out and they progressed to the semifinal.
