Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil didn't come to Rio as tourists, they came to get a medal for Canada. They are looking forward to the Olympics Games after a great performance at the Rogers Cup where they reached the semifinal.

Canada's lead player Milos Raonic has withdrawn from Rio, which was a big surprise for everyone. After his decision, Nestor joined Pospisil in doubles. This will be Daniel's sixth Olympic Games.

Olympics Games for both players

Nestor's Olympic gold came 16 years ago with partner Sebastien Lareau in Sydney. Their success is really memorable, because nobody has an Olympic medal for Canada expect for them. Pospisil was 10 years old at the time. "Honestly, I'd be lying if I said I remembered... I was too young maybe. I obviously know he won the medal, but I don't have a memory of watching that match," said Vasek. Pospisil can only envy Daniel's success at the Olympics. He reached first round in singles and second round in doubles at the London Olympics.

Their collaboration at the Rogers Cup

For better preparation for the Olympics, Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil teamed up at the Rogers Cup. They haven't played together since a Davis Cup match last year. Only Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares closed their way to the final up and won 6-4, 7-6, 10-7. Both players quickly understood themselves on the court. This tournament gave them more confidence as they played great matches against Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek, and Jack Sock and Nick Kyrgios.

"The good thing about playing together this week (is) the fact we have won a few matches, because, you know, (it) gives us a little bit of confidence and momentum that we have won back-to-back matches together. I think that's something we can kind of ride going into Rio because usually when we play we just play one event, one match sometimes," said Pospisil after victory their victory in the quarterfinal against Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek.

"It's tough with certain partners, but as I said, he's one of the best. when you play with someone who understands doubles, a great athlete and a great ball striker and moves great, that makes it a lot easier," said Nestor about Pospisil. "So, I mean, I think there is partners over the years you gel with right away and he's one of them," added Daniel.
