Rajeev Ram and four-time Olympic gold medalist, Venus Williams were one victory away from claiming the gold medal in the mixed doubles at the Rio Olympics, however, they were defeated in the match tiebreak by compatriots Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock.

The 32-year-old American spoke to SportsKeeda in an exclusive interview about teaming up with Williams and spoke about his Olympics experience as a whole.

"It surely does. It absolutely means a lot. Every time we play for our country, it will always be special to use. On top of that to come out with a medal makes it all the sweeter."

Although the gold medal was not wanted Ram and Williams wanted, he was certainly grateful for the opportunity to compete for a medal and talked about the duo's tennis throughout the week.

Ram pleased with the duo's tennis

"We had a great run and played some great tennis. All the matches were decided just by a few points and unfortunately it didn't go our way in the final."

The doubles specialist finally spoke about his relationship with Williams and praised the seven-time Grand Slam champion's attitude to tennis.

"I've known Venus for a long time but never played with her before. She's an amazing player and a fantastic competitor. The Williams sisters are fighters. Venus does not let anything affect her game. Her will win to win out on the court was inspiring."

Ram is currently seventh in the Race to London with his South African partner, Raven Klaasen and the duo will be looking to get some more points on the board at the final Grand Slam tournament of the year at the US Open.

The American will be full of confidence heading into the US Open as he has a silver medal in his cabinet, and competing in front of a home crowd in New York will be a good homecoming for Ram.
